Reinforced Thermal Cover

details
Built into every cover
COMPONENT | SPECIFICATION |
|---|---|
Cover ends | Five layers minimum, glued and sewn, 316 stainless eyelets |
Edge binding | UV-stabilised reinforced PVC, 600 GSM or heavier, twin-stitched, 12-gauge thread minimum |
Leading edge | Double fold, double stitched. 2 stainless eyelets, ski rope, float and dress ring |
Roller end | Eyelets at 500mm, 1.5m attachment cords |
Trailing edge | Triple fold. No.7 stainless eyelets at 500mm spacing. Attaches to the roller |
Side edging | PVC reinforcing — weighted or non-weighted |
Haul cord | 8mm, supplied 6m longer than the pool |

Heat Shield Overcover
Not a pool cover — a protective layer that attaches over the top of one. Takes the UV and abrasion load so the cover underneath lasts longer.
Pricing: Per lineal metre
Fits: Attaches to your existing cover
Best for: High-UV sites, covers stored on the roller in sun
Float PocketsFloat Pockets
Keeps the leading edge riding on the water rather than folding under. Covers up to 6.5m.
Security Straps
For sites where the cover is secured outside operating hours. 1 per 25m, 2 per 50m.
Commercial Fitting Kit
Attachment hardware matched to your roller, supplied and fitted at installation.

Top and Tail
Two covers on one roller, for pools too long for a single cover.
-
5 eyelets, 5 × 1.5m ropes, 5 toggles
-
Halves the handled weight on 50m pools
-
Covers behave as one sheet on the water

Wind Skirting
Stops wind getting under the cover and lifting it off the water.
-
Welded PVC mesh, lead-weighted rope at 25g per lineal metre or heavier, 75mm minimum overhang
-
Weighted — exposed, coastal, elevated, open sites
-
Non-weighted — sheltered and indoor pools

Ladder and Step Cut-Outs
Cut and edged around obstructions so the cover sits flat with no open water.
-
Ladders, handrails, starting blocks, step recesses
-
Reinforced inside and outside the cut
2. POOL COVER OPTIONS
Specified onto your cover at assessment, against your pool and your site.
How we specify it
Tube diameter, drive type, frame and storage — against pool span, cover weight and who operates it day to day.
Why tube diameter matters
Wider pools carry more cover on the tube. Undersized tube deflects, winds unevenly and shortens cover life. The specification decision most often got wrong.
Construction
All rollers are stainless steel, on stainless frames with drop bolts and castors. Tubes to 6.5m.
3. POOL COVER ROLLERS AND HANDLING SYSTEMS
The cover is half the system. How it gets on and off the water decides whether it actually gets used — a cover that takes two staff twenty minutes to wind gets left off.
Warranty: End frames 5 years pro rata. Wheels, brakes and cover-to-roller connections 2 years.
MODEL | DRIVE | BEST FOR |
|---|---|---|
125mm | Crank handle and drive shaft | Smaller school and community pools |
150mm | 600mm hand wheel and drive shaft | 25m pools — standard specification |
200mm | 800mm removable hand wheel, drive end | Wide pools, heavier covers |
-
Hand wheels are removable — they come off between sessions where public deck access matters
-
Stainless throughout, on stainless frames with drop bolts and castors

4. PARTS AND REPLACEMENT COVERS

Recent Installation
Priced on measured area, cover type, and the handling system with it. The variables that move it most:
-
Pool size
-
Bubble or thermal construction
-
Whether you need a roller or already have one
-
Options — wind skirting, ladder cut-outs, Top and Tail
-
Installation
A 25m pool with a cover and manual roller sits in a very different band to a 50m pool with a Top and Tail system and a hydraulic bench. You get a fixed itemised price after assessment, so you can stage anything you don't need this year.
-
Usually the tube is undersized for the cover. Too small for the load, it deflects, winds unevenly and gets heavier every wrap. Fixes in order of cost:
-
Powered winder retrofitted to your existing roller
-
Larger tube diameter
-
Hydraulic bench
-
A bubble cover gains heat during the day and holds it overnight, and suits outdoor pools. A thermal cover is two layers, double stitched, and insulates better over long closed periods — the usual choice for indoor pools and higher water temperatures. We specify against how your pool is actually operated.
Site assessment and installation are Auckland-based. Outside Auckland, tell us in your enquiry and we'll set out the options in the proposal — including working from your own measurements and drawings.
Often, yes. Covers and handling systems can be quoted and delivered separately. Say so in your enquiry and the proposal will be structured that way.
